Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer lunch-and-learns or training sessions for teams?
We value in-person product and technical training for not only our internal team, but also our customers. Please reach out to us via the website request form if you are interested in scheduling a session with one of our sales engineers.
What is the average lifespan of equipment you offer?
The average lifespan of equipment depends heavily on the maintenance and care for the equipment. Please visit our service page and reach out for details on how to extend your equipment’s lifespan.
Which manufacturers on your line card specialize in VRF, low‑GWP refrigerants, or advanced controls?
Daikin Applied Americas is the #1 HVAC manufacturer in the world. They specialize in a wide range of equipment. In 1982, Daikin invented an advanced energy-efficient HVAC system called Variable Refrigerant Volume, otherwise known as VRV. This technology uses inverter compressors to adjust refrigerant amounts, providing simultaneous heating and cooling in different building zones and drastically cutting energy use. In addition, they have received credit for pioneering R32, a low-GWP refrigerant. Visit our products page and Building Automation and Control page to learn more.
What installation requirements exist for projects (clearances, rigging, electrical, piping)?
In preparation for projects, we have you connect with our seasoned sales engineers who will highlight all necessary installation requirements. Please submit a website request with project information along with any questions you may have, and we will be in touch soon.
Do you have local stock or is everything shipped from the factory?
We have an expansive warehouse in Romeoville, IL that holds a host of products and equipment. In addition, we have access to factory shipments. Please visit our Parts page and reach out to our parts team with questions about inventory.
Where are replacement parts stocked?
Replacement parts are stocked at our Romeoville warehouse, which is located at 1424 Sherman Rd Romeoville, IL 60446. Call (630) 693-0920 for more information.
In times of emergency, how quickly are replacement parts received?
For critical requests, contact our team directly. Emergency needs are prioritized whenever possible. If the part is not in stock, we will use our best efforts – and our strong manufacturer relationships – to source and deliver it as quickly as possible.
How do I order emergency parts after hours?
After-hours parts requests must be submitted through the parts email. The warehouse can be opened after hours for in-stock items, subject to additional after-hours fees. If the part is not in stock, we will assist with locating and ordering it.
What warranty coverage is applied to replacement parts?
All replacement parts purchased from us carry a 12-month warranty. If a part fails within that period, it is covered under warranty. Equipment warranties vary based on unit type, manufacturer date, and whether a standard or extended warranty applied – our parts team can help confirm coverage.
What types of training do you offer for building operators/owners?
We place a strong emphasis on owner turnover and ongoing operator engagement —two areas that are historically overlooked by in the industry. Many buildings operate incorrectly due to manual overrides and other functional deficiencies that are not identified early. Our process includes quarterly site visits during the first year to support proper system use and understanding across all four seasons. These visits focus on:
- Diagnostic interviews to identify operational issues
- Sequences commissioning through the seasons (e.g. heating and cooling)
- Occupancy adjustments as required (e.g. temperature, scheduling, ventilation, etc.)
Do you offer controls compatible with all equipment manufacturers?
Yes, we provide and install native BACnet controllers that are compatible with any equipment manufacturer. We also integrate factory-provided unitary controllers via BACnet or MS/TP gateways. By leveraging open Tridium Niagra platforms, end users have access to an intuitive system that operates across multiple equipment and controller manufacturers, ensuring a consistent interface experience.
Do you offer remote monitoring and preventative maintenance services?
Yes. We offer real-time remote monitoring using either:
- The customer’s IT VPN provided by their IT department, or
- A dedicated remote monitoring modem installed by our team
This allows us to monitor system performance, identify critical and non-critical alarms, notify building owners, and—if desired—coordinate directly with mechanical service teams to dispatch support.
As a manufacturer’s rep, why should we trust you with BAS and controls? What capabilities does your team offer?
Our approach to controls is grounded in one simple fact: only about 50% of buildings operate as originally intended. We bring a mechanical-first mindset to building automation. Our Building Automation and Controls team includes:
- Design engineers
- Programmers
- System integrators
- Field engineers
Our goal is to deliver controls that make sense—systems that support how the building operates, not just how it looks on paper.
Can you help engineers specify a building automation system?
Yes. We support engineers throughout the specification process by providing:
- Sample schematics
- Sequences of operation
- Points lists
- Product recommendations
From a controls perspective, we remain manufacturer-agnostic and focus on designing systems that meet performance and operational goals.
Do you support design-build and plan-and-spec projects?
Yes. We support both design-build and plan-and-spec delivery methods.
How do I request a proposal, bid, or quote?
To request a proposal or get help, please email our team or call us at (630) 693-0940. If you experience any issues or need escalation, please contact the Controls Manager, Peter G. Strittmatter .
How do I request service or issue an RFP?
For service requests or RFP support, please contact us by email or calling us at (630) 693-0940. Our team will route your request to the appropriate department and help guide next steps.
My building isn’t operating well. Can you asses it?
Yes. If your building isn’t performing as expected, we can provide an assessment and help identify opportunities to:
- Improve system performance
- Upgrade or modernize controls
- Leverage available utility rebate programs
Depending on system age and scope, rebates may be available. Learn more at:
